pattern combo of the morning : welcome sweater weather

Temps dropped so out came the layers! Anna put on every garment I have been telling her all summer it's too hot to wear. On top: sweater, a fave from Argentina (almost too small now), dress: Hannah Anderson from thrift store ($7 score!), polka dot leggings and required striped socks.

First art project this year for second grade : STRING CREATURE. Drop a black loop of string on the paper, trace, and try out some line work. Cut out and mount on black, viola. (Thank you Mrs. McCann and Art in Action library.)

I feel kind of nerdy getting so excited about licensed character quilting fabric, but if there was going to be one, this could be it. The Poky Little Puppy? The Tawny Scrawny Lion? Shy Little Kitten? All characters are from titles illustrated by one of my all time favorite artists, Gustaf Tenggren.
