most little lanterns
Exquisite little nature-made luminaries from the astonishing Starnet. Flip the singular switch beneath the tiny vitrine, and the objects light up from the inside. Magical! Starnet Works runs through September 10 at Heath Pottery, Los Angeles.

the inside-out of feathers
Doing Play-Doh the other day, we used a pod stem (??... I don't know what it is, it fell on the lawn) for a roller. And whoa, it made a PERFECT scale texture, just like feathers, or lizard skin. It was like the ghost of the young pod structure silently revealed itself. Hidden patterns repeat everywhere. Perfection!

back-to-school ikea hack
Technically not a hack, but more like a repurposing. Or just putting non-kitchen stuff in the box I found in the kitchen department. Yes, it's that time of year again and after last year's last-minute scramble, I vowed to be early this year. Hence, it's the first day of August and the back-to-school list is complete. Victory! After much dissatisfaction with the cheapie mainstream pencil boxes available (nothing fits! ugly and limited colors!), I discovered Ikea KRUS can become an excellent pencil box for school.
Lego stickers not included.
